How do I make Travel happen so often?

If you ask anyone about me, "She's always going somewhere" or travel is sure to come up. I have always had a penchant for finding loopholes or avenues to ensure I can do the things I love. Travelling makes me feel whole and grounded! This year, I've already been home to Trinidad, Panama, Canada, Cuba, Bahamas, Saint Maarten/ Sint Martin, Anguilla, and it's only June! Here are the 5 ways I pull this off:
1. Use your holidays/long weekends:
At the beginning of the year and sometimes at the end of the previous year, I look at my calendar to see when the public holidays fall. At my job, we get 8 of those which means there are 8 potential opportunities to get a day of a trip without having to take PTO! For example, 4th of July is on a Thursday this year, so I took the Friday off. That means I am only using 1 day of PTO for a 4 day trip.
2. Plan your PTO:
As best as I can, I try to think ahead for the trips I'd like to take. I know I like to go home to Trinidad for Christmas, so I plan out the number of days I'd need to take for that. This lets me know how many days I have left for other points in the year.
3. Work Remotely if possible:
I'm fortunate to have a job that allows me to work remote on Fridays and I can request other days as well. This means I can work from pretty much anywhere with an internet connection and wifi! It also makes it easier to leave on a Thursday to visit a friend, work from wherever I am on the Friday and have a weekend of fun!
4. Get a travel credit card:
Not only is this helpful in country to avoid foreign transaction fees, it's also helpful to build reward points! I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred and I love it! I've gotten so many free or reduced trips because of the points I've accumulated. Let your spending work for you and find the card that fits your needs.
5. Get a side hustle:
Travelling is amazing but it isn't free! I have gotten a job on the side to help fund my need to see the world. This isn't for everybody but it truly has helped me get more money to do what I love.
I hope at least one of these resonates with you and you can start using it to incorporate more travel into your own pursuit of life, love and happiness.
