Mackinac Island

1. Mackinac Island, Michigan

Located in the Upper Peninsula, Mackinac Island, Michigan provides some of the most beautiful views in the great lakes! Accessible by a quick ferry ride, the island is car-free and allows you to explore on foot, by bike or even by horse! Your visit can be extended by staying at one of the hotels or inns on the island. For a spectacular stay, consider the famous Grand Hotel. Be sure to try some local fudge, explore a trail and take in the views the island has to offer!

2. Biltmore Estate, Asheville, North Carolina

America's largest privately owned home awaits and provides all the grandeur of the castles you might see in Europe. This former chateau-style mansion of George Washington Vanderbilt spans across 8,000 acres and features its own winery and spectacular, manicured gardens. The estate has 250 rooms, including a bowling alley, 65 fireplaces, beautiful medieval tapestries and an extensive library. You can easily spend at least 2 hours exploring the house and an entire day visiting the gardens and conservatory, a farm with a petting zoo, and the winery, where you learn about the wine-making process and enjoy a tasting.

4. The Lost Sea in Sweetwater, Tennessee

This national landmark is the home of the largest underground lake in America. The Lost Sea is part of an extensive and historic cave system called Craighead Caverns, which have been known and used since the days of the Cherokee Indians. The caves are accessed through a small opening on the side of the mountain and expand into a series of rooms. The guided tour involves a ¾ mile round-trip walk on wide sloping pathways and also a boat ride on the Lost Sea!

5. Gulf Shores, Alabama

Seated in the Gulf of Mexico, your next beach vacation is calling. This lesser-known vacation destination has beaches, trails, a golf course and ziplining. There is something for everyone making this a great spot for your next family vacation.

6. Krause Springs, Spicewood, Texas

This 115-acre, family-owned property has 32 springs on site, plus a waterfall, grotto, man-made spring-fed pool, and au naturel pool that flows into Lake Travis. It is located in Spicewood, Texas approximately 30 miles west of Austin. There are also 24 RV sites with water and electricity available for those who may want to extend their stay.

7. Caverns of Sonora, Texas

This National Natural Landmark is located in the small city of Sonara, which is halfway point between San Antonio, TX and Big Bend National Park. Known for its large collections of calcite crystal formations, most especially helictites, in the world. All tours are expertly guided through crystal corridors 155 feet below the surface.
